Halloween Fun: Make a Flaming Spooky Ghost Cake

If you are planning to throw a Halloween party this year, consider making this spectacular cake. Before presenting the cake, use a match or lighter to light up the eyes of the ghost. Your guests will be thrilled!

Bake a simple sheet cake of any flavor, or purchase one from your local bakery. Frost the cake with chocolate frosting. Make a ghost shape on the cake with white frosting. (Purchased frosting in tubs can be used to save time.) Outline the ghost shape with black string licorice. Break a fresh egg in half, making two small cups. Clean the empty eggshells thoroughly and allow them to dry. When the eggshells are completely dry, place them where the ghost's eyes should be. Apply slight pressure when placing the shells to be sure they stay put, but not so much pressure that the shells crack. Meanwhile, soak a couple of sugar cubes in a small bowl of lemon extract. When the sugar cubes are soaked through, place one cube into each empty eggshell. Before serving the cake, carefully light the sugar cubes with a match or a lighter. The lemon extract will ignite into small flames, a sure way to light up your Halloween party. Make sure to turn off the lights!
